How CGHS rates work
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) publishes a reference rate for every medical procedure covered under the scheme. These rates apply to CGHS beneficiaries — central government employees, pensioners, and their dependents with a valid CGHS card — at empanelled hospitals and diagnostic centres.
Three factors vary the rate:
- City tier — Tier X metros (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, NCR) pay the full rate. Tier Y cities pay ~10% less. Tier Z districts pay ~20% less.
- Hospital accreditation — NABH-accredited hospitals are paid 10% more than Non-NABH. Super-speciality hospitals are paid 15% more than Non-NABH.
- Ward entitlement — based on your pay level. Semi-private is the baseline; General Ward pays 5% less, Private Ward pays 5% more.
Rates shown on this site are from the CGHS revision effective 13 October 2025, notified on 3 October 2025 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. View on cghs.mohfw.gov.in
