I recently underwent gallstone surgery at Popular Hospital, Varanasi, and I would like to share my excellent experience. The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Mahesh Tiwari (MS General Surgery, MCh Surgical Gastroenterology, Consultant GI & HPB Surgery). From consultation to surgery and post-operative care, everything was handled very smoothly and professionally. Dr. Mahesh Tiwari is highly skilled, humble, and caring. He explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. The hospital staff, nursing team, and overall management were also very supportive and cooperative. My recovery has been smooth, and I am feeling completely normal now. I sincerely thank Dr. Mahesh Tiwari and the entire Popular Hospital team for their excellent care and support. Highly recommended for anyone looking for GI and gallbladder-related treatment in Varanasi.
Hospital is very good. Doctors and staff is very calm and caring. They regularly follow up and discuss the things very nicely with the guardian and treat the patient very nicely. Improvement part is to strengthen the SOPs of hopital
This hospital is a joke for medical sector......can you imagine their is no seats to rest outside the OT COMPLEX What's a good place it is.....people who come with patient for opration either they can stand for hours or seat on the floor I attached 2 photo for example What a joke is it??? Lower post staff is uneducated and Pathetic... And doctors are working like they doing part time ..... Last but not least their is a bipass gallery in semiward room number 4 1st floor .. Can you imagine this... I visited nearly a 100 of hospitals but none of them have a bypass gallery in wards.... It's better to die than taking medical help from this horrible place
The hospital management was poorly organized, the help desk staff was not very supportive, and it was extremely difficult to get clear information. The cleanliness was also below expectations, and the overall environment felt unhygienic, which was concerning for both patients and their families. Despite charging very high fees—significantly more than what we have experienced in Mumbai—the quality of care and service did not justify the cost. Due to these issues, we eventually decided to transfer our grandmother to another hospital. Very bad experience
I am writing this review with deep pain and disappointment regarding the treatment of my mother at Popular Hospital, Varanasi. She was first admitted in the ICU for 4–5 days, showed some improvement, shifted to the general ward, and later discharged, but within 3–4 days her condition worsened and we had to bring her back. She was admitted to emergency at around 3 AM and later shifted to ICU, yet there was no clear communication or fixed time for doctors’ visits—every staff member gave a different time and attendants were left waiting the entire day. The staff repeatedly sent us to arrange medicines and tests, creating unnecessary stress, and the charges were extremely high. It was also very disturbing that some cleaning staff indirectly asked attendants for “chai-paani” money, which is completely unacceptable. When her condition deteriorated, doctors pressured us to put her on a ventilator; when we requested oxygen support and continued treatment instead, they refused and asked us to take her home, handing us a bill of nearly ₹40,000 for just 8–10 hours. While bringing her home in the ambulance, my mother passed away on the way. We spent nearly ₹2 lakhs on her treatment, yet lost her. I strongly advise people to stay away from such hospitals, and hospitals that exploit patients and their families in the name of medical care should not be allowed to continue operating.
