Very Bad Experience at Ford Hospital and Research Center, Patna (Kamani Chowk, Jagannpura, Ramkrishna Nagar) I want to share my personal and unfortunate experience with Ford Hospital and Research Center, Patna, located at Kamani Chowk, Jagannpura, Ramkrishna Nagar, led by Dr. B. B. Bharti and his team. My sister was a patient of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) and had undergone Mitral Valve Balloon Valvotomy in 2010 due to mitral stenosis. At that time, the procedure was performed at Jeevak Heart Hospital, which was considered one of the leading cardiac centers in Patna. For many years, we continued periodic follow-ups. Later, during regular consultation with one of Patna’s reputed cardiologists, Dr. Vikas Kumar Singh, we were clearly advised that my sister’s mitral valve had become calcified and now required Mitral Valve Replacement surgery, not ballooning. The doctor explained that the valve had hardened like an eggshell, and balloon dilation could break it and cause embolism, stroke, or paralysis. We even initiated registration for treatment at AIIMS Delhi. However, based on Jija ji advice as he Forced My Sister to consult Dr. B. B. Bharti, who was then practicing at his own clinic and associated with Ford Hospital. During consultation, an echocardiography was advised, after which we were told that the valve was “healthy” and ballooning could still be performed. This directly contradicted previous expert medical advice and created serious confusion for us. A date for ballooning was fixed. During the procedure attempt, the valve was Broken by Dr.B.B.Bharti leading to severe mitral regurgitation, and the my sister became critically ill — almost a life-threatening situation. Immediately afterward, we were informed that urgent Mitral Valve Replacement was required. With no other option in an emergency situation, we had to proceed with surgery at the same hospital under extreme pressure. The treatment cost was also higher than expected despite prior assurances. Another deeply concerning issue was the unprofessional behavior and communication style observed inside the hospital. The environment felt stressful rather than supportive, especially for attendants already dealing with a critical cardiac patient. My concern is not only about one incident but about transparency in medical decision-making. Patients and families often lack technical knowledge and depend entirely on doctors’ guidance. Therefore, complete honesty and clear communication are essential. My advice to patients and families: Always take at least two expert opinions before any major cardiac surgery. Do not rush into invasive procedures without full understanding. Choose experienced and trusted cardiac centers carefully. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Ford Hospital and Research Center, Patna for cardiology or advanced medical care. He appeared to lack personal health awareness and did not communicate effectively with patients and relatives. Arrived at Ford Hospital for a medical issue. Staff were efficient and the emergency room was well-equipped. Waiting times weren't too bad. Overall, a decent experience considering the circumstances. Hope to feel better soon!
